Twelve images from a Reddit post may shed light on the next Call of Duty game, presumably set for release in 2023. The post’s author warned readers to take the news with a “massive grain of salt” since there is no identifiable source for the conspicuous images. The images in question use Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War assets and mostly feature zoomed-in views of various menus. Though it is difficult to deem much information from this, we can make some inferences based on the knowledge at hand. Arguably, the most revealing image has the words “Black Ops Working Title” plastered over a black screen. Above this wording is “T10,” consistent labeling for Treyarch’s internal naming scheme. Various other images reveal the classic game modes we expect from Call of Duty, such as Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. In terms of Zombies, this new supposed entry will have a feature originally announced years ago, Zombie Factions. The Zombies Factions mode, originally announced for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, was scrapped after numerous delays. In this mode, players would choose a faction and complete specific seasonal events for that faction. One image teases a resurrection for Factions stating that “if you choose to side with a certain faction, you will gain access to 6…” The image cuts off here. Lastly, one photo shows a PlayStation 4 controller near the bottom of the screen, identifying that the game may release for last and new generation hardware. Seeing that many businesses have not fully adopted the new generation, this should not be surprising.Treyarch’s last project was the zombies’ portion of Call of Duty: Vanguard, but the studio hasn’t had full range of a Call of Duty game since Cold War in 2020. The leak suggests we can expect a new Call of Duty installment from Treyarch sometime in 2023. Then again, it’s unusual to see such a leak this early on, so we must wait for a reliable confirmation before jumping to conclusions.
