Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Announced

Activision has just announced Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the publisher has confirmed the long-rumored game with a new trailer titled ‘Know Your History’ in which developers tease the franchise’s return to one of the toughest geopolitical events in recent history. The publisher will reveal more details on August 26.

In late May, a Twitter user uploaded a picture of Black Ops art with the Cold War below the title, the insider affirmed that the game will span over the years of both the Vietnam and Korean war. Following that leak, dataminers found an alpha build of the game called  “The Red Door”. The build was leaked on Xbox Servers, and a similar listing appeared on PlayStation Network.

 

Dataminer Prototype_Warehouse tweeted a series of code that has given the fans some insight into the content of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War:

ger_stakeout nam_armada nam_prisoner nic_revolution rus_amerika rus_duga rus_kgb rus_siege rus_yamantau (sidemission) tundra (sidemission) takedown

These leaks suggest that the game’s campaign will take place in Vietnam, Russia, Germany, and Nicaragua. Prototype Warehouse also leaked a series of names for multiplayer maps: “black sea”, “cartel”, “KGB” “Miami”, “Moscow” “Satellite”, “Tank”, and “Tundra”. The dataminer also affirms that there will be a zombie mode, codenamed “Silver.
