As Infinity Ward had promised, the multiplayer Gunfight mode officially revealed via some of the streamers today on Twitch, showcasing the first gameplay footage for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare since its announcement.
Gunfight is a close-quarter-focused multiplayer mode that represents two teams, each one with two members, fighting against each other in small maps. Gunfight runs through multiple rounds and winner is the team that reaches 6 wins earlier than the opponent. Each round lasts 40 seconds and if it gets over with both sides still alive, you and your opponent will have 10 extra seconds to capture a flag in the map.
During the matches, load-out for each player is pre-reserved by the system and every 2 rounds the weapons get switched between you and your opponent team. A primary weapon, a secondary weapon, a tactical grenade and a lethal gear are all the things you are going to carry in Gunfight. The mode ran through 3 different maps during the streams. Via this link you can check out over one hour of gameplay footage.
Aside from the mode itself, we also got our first look at the visuals and graphics of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is being developed through a brand new engine. Based on what I saw in the streams, the game seems to feature stunning lighting and high-resolution textures, along with smooth and new animations for hand moves that you haven’t seen alike in the games of the same genre.
The multiplayer section for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be fully revealed on August 1st and the game itself is going to launch on October 25 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
