With the official reveal from yesterday’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare announcement, Infinity Ward still has plenty of details to go over for the 2019 release. One notable and pretty massive announcement regarding the game is that Activision has confirmed to Game Informer that online crossplay is planned for the 2019 shooter.
The statement only confirms the existence of the crossplay feature between PC and consoles, but neglects to mention if Xbox One and PS4 players will be able to play together. We know either one of those platforms will be able to play against PC players, but there still seems to be some confusion/lack of detail missing in regards to PS4/Xbox crossplay.
Here’s Activision’s statement to Game Informer regarding crossplay:
“With the launch of Modern Warfare, the team is taking steps to unite the community. First, the team plans for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through crossplay support.”
There’s been plenty of hype surrounding the idea of full cross-platform play, so introducing easily one of the biggest multiplayer franchises in the industry to such a feature would be monumental.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was announced earlier this week and is set to release on October 25, 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
