The canceled Xbox 360 GoldenEye 007 Remaster is now playable on PC. The HD remaster of the cult classic was meant to be featured on Xbox Live Arcade, but it was canceled due to controversy over the IP rights game.
Following a recent leak of the remastered files, users have been finding ways to port the game to PC, the game can now be played without major problems on the Xenia emulator. YouTuber’s have been sharing their gameplay videos in which it’s shown the game running at 4k at 60 FPS.

As Graslu00 explains, GoldenEye 007 Remaster is now available as a ROM, the remaster uses a toggle option much like the Halo Master Chief Collection does, which allows players to switch between the original Nintendo 64 graphics and the HD-Remastered version of the game.
According to VGC, Grant Kirkhope, the composer of the game mentioned that the remaster couldn’t be released due to a disagreement between, EON, Microsoft, and Nintendo. There were too many issues to be discussed from actor likeness, cost of production, and other rights. Microsoft decided that both parties were asking too much and saw that the project wasn’t profitable for Xbox.
While the game might still be playable on a Nintendo 64 emulator with 4K resolutions, Reddit users are working hard to create a real port of the game on PC as it was done with Super Mario 64.
Last year, a project named GoldenEye 25 was forced to be dismantled by MGM. The project was meant to be an Unreal Engine 4 remake of GoldenEye 007.
