A recent announcement from Capcom confirms that PlayStation 4 players will be able to once again play as Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn in the upcoming expansion to Monster Hunter World, Iceborne. Aloy will don her attire from the Horizon Zero Dawn DLC, The Frozen Wilds, as she treks through the new Iceborne map, Hoarfrost Reach.
Check out the new announcement trailer for the upcoming crossover event below:
PS4 players previously were able to participate in the original Horizon Zero Dawn event in Monster Hunter World shortly after it released early on in 2018. The new event will allow players to once again play as Aloy but this time wearing her icy armor and equip weapons exclusive to the DLC from the Frozen Wilds which seems to blend perfectly with the Iceborne expansion.
Previously, shortly after Monster Hunter World initially released on the PS4 and Xbox One in January 2018, Sony and Capcom collaborated on several exclusive events, such as Street Fighter V and Horizon Zero Dawn. Within the Horizon Zero Dawn crossover event, players would be able to unlock Aloy as a playable hunter, as well as some of her armor from the game, equipping her bow and unlocking Palico armor that resembled a machine from the Horizon Zero Dawn title.
The Frozen Wilds DLC released in late 2017 for Horizon Zero Dawn which featured a frozen tundra to the north of the base game map and featured new exclusive armor, weapons and more. The Iceborne collaboration will feature a few of the DLC items unlocked during the DLC campaign.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is set to release on the PS4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2019 with a PC release set for January 2020. Obviously, the new Horizon Zero Dawn event will be exclusive to the PS4.
