A sequel or remaster for Dino Crisis is undoubtedly one of the most requested ever, and Capcom may just be listening to the fans enough to make it happen. Any hints or teases regarding a new instalment of the series have been previously unseen by the developer, until now.
As seen below in the tweet from the Capcom Division 1 Twitter handle, the developer’s account responded to the user known as “Jawmuncher,” who asked if there is ever going to be a new Dino Crisis game on the way. The account replied to the tweet, stating that there could be a follow up if the fans wanted it enough.
Naturally, this doesn’t mean that it has been confirmed, but it’s still a ray of hope for fans.
Of course, Capcom’s response on Twitter doesn’t necessarily confirm (or deny) that production of another Dino Crisis has begun, but it does show that the company is at least listening to and engaging with its fan base. So, although the mention of the survival horror title isn’t definitive proof of a followup being in the works, the door still seems to be left wide open for a direct sequel, or perhaps even a remaster or remake of the games in the series. After all, it is a little out of character for Capcom to do such a thing for no reason knowing that it would excite fans.
Some time ago, it was revealed that Capcom Vancouver almost developed a reboot for Dino Crisis, which shows that the company is keen to make another game for the franchise, but under the right circumstances. Enough hype from the community may be what they were looking for, and they certainly got it. Considering the last instalment of the Dino Crisis franchise was released in 2003, it’s unlikely that we would see a sequel – most likely a reboot of the original. With Capcom having previously said that HD remasters of Triple-A titles are a priority, a more polished version of the original Dino Crisis being released before an actual sequel would not only be more likely, but also it would be a solid starting point for newbies.
