The long-awaited follow up to the Devil May Cry series, Devil May Cry V, has been flourishing thanks to taking the game back to its roots while introducing new and exciting mechanics. The latest Media Crate statistics sheet for Japan showcases the large number of copies sold on the PS4 alone to back up the game’s success.
According to the report, Devil May Cry V sold a just over 116k copies in Japan which is said to be a touch over 75% of the original shipment. While these sales may seem like rather low figures, especially in comparison to other AAA titles that receive millions of sales in only days, Capcom has reassured fans that sales are anything but low.
The resurgence of the core Devil May Cry series and the apparent high numbers is good news for the franchise to continue moving forward in the future. And with the new Bloody Palace update hitting the game for free next month, there’s no reason why any fan of the series – or genre, for that matter – should skip out on this title.
Of course, these sales only reflect the PS4 adaption of the game in the Japanese region. So far, we’ve seen no confirmation not only as to how well the game has sold on other systems, such as PC and Xbox One, but worldwide as well.
Devil May Cry V released on March 8, 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
