Last week some news broke claiming Cyberpunk 2077 and its developers, CD Projekt Red, were a bit iffy on the possibility of multiplayer still hitting the upcoming first-person RPG. However, it seems that those hesitations can be thrown out the door as the developers have confirmed that multiplayer is indeed still in the works and is planned for a post-launch release for the game.
A recent tweet from the developer Twitter account disclosed some new details on the multiplayer portion of the upcoming title, reiterating that they’re planning new online modes for the game and players should see them after the April release date. They also point towards some applications if you think you have what it takes to lend your skills in helping develop the multiplayer portion of the game.

The tweets read as follows:
“Until now, the only thing we said about multi was that it was in R&D. As we’re getting closer to launching ‘single player’ Cyberpunk 2077 in Apr. 2020, we’d like to confirm that multiplayer’s in the works! If you feel like lending us your skills apply.

As you can tell, the multiplayer DLC will hit the game after the single player launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and it will be free of charge. This is good news for those who were looking forward to see what CD Projekt Red could deliver in their Cyberpunk universe, as well as those worried that the post-launch multiplayer portion might come as an additional charge.
In other news, we also received details that the first-person game will also be completely first-person during the cut scenes, as well. While this might throw the anti-first-person crowd off, we should trust in the vision of the developers as they’ve followed through on awe-inspiring experiences before in their acclaimed Witcher series.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on April 16, 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC with the multiplayer hitting post-launch. The Stadia release has also been confirmed but no official release for the streaming version has been announced.
