CD Projekt Won’t “Shelve” Cyberpunk 2077

Speaking with Reuters, CD Projekt’s CEO Adam Kiciński stated that CD Projekt Red will continue working on Cyberpunk 2077; to redeem the developers behind the game and increase sales.

“I don’t see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077,” said  Adam Kiciński. “We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come.”

CD Projekt has delayed the multiplayer mode for the game in order to free up resources to develop a next-gen patch, free DLCs, and the badly needed patches of the game across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Stadia devices. Last week, Senior Vice President of Business Development affirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will return to the PlayStation Store soon.

CD Projekt claims to continue supporting the development of the polemic game, but they have also confirmed the development of two games to be released in late 2021 or early 2022.

CD Projekt is also facing two class-action lawsuits which try to prove that the studio misled investors over the release state of Cyberpunk 2077.

After interviews with twenty current and former Cyberpunk 2077, it has been revealed to Jason Schreier that the development of the game was marred by unchecked ambition, poor planning, and technical shortcomings.

The information was disputed by Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt who said to Schreier on an official statement “you’ve talked with 20 people, some being ex-employees, only 1 of whom is not anonymous”.

CD Projekt was also recently the victim of a ransomware attack, hackers got access to the servers of the Polish studio, the hacker leaked the source code of Cyberpunk 2077, ‘Gwent’, The Witcher 3, and an unreleased version of the latter. More importantly, the hacker threatened the studio to disclose internal documents relating to administration, accounting, investor relations, and more.
