While news of the intensely-satisfying indie platformer, Celeste, has been circling the new upcoming free update DLC, the developers revealed that the new additions are finally ready for release. Lead developer Matt Thorson has revealed that newly named studio Extremely OK Games has been working hard to bring the final chapter of the game to fans every where, along with a physical copy of the game which will include all content available.
Titled ‘Farewell’ the new DLC update will feature over 100 new levels, new mechanics to learn and, of course, new music to grace player’s ears from acclaimed musical composer, Lena Rain. The new Chapter 9 content will tally the game’s total level up to over 800 levels when all is said and done along with over 40-minutes of additional music to sift through.
The new chapter has already been confirmed by the developers as finished and ready for distribution. Previously known as Matt Makes Games, the old studio name has since been retired allowing the studio to move on and be renamed as Extremely OK Games. The new studio is already in the early stages of development on their next title code-named ‘EXOK1’ but is still fairly new in the development process.
And fans who have either yet to pick up their copy of Celeste or those who simply want to grab a physical version of the complete version of the game can finally do so once Limited Run Games finishes production of the game after all DLC updates have been completed and released.
Celeste’s Chapter 9 ‘Farewell’ DLC update is set to release for free on September 9, 2019 for all version, though they did iterate that the Xbox One version may not release at that exact date, it should release fairly soon after.
Celeste is currently available digitally for the PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
