During AMD’s CES 2019 Presentation XBox leader Phil Spencer took the stage to talk about AMD and Xbox are working together for future Xbox projects, then Xbox boss talked about how working with AMD gave significant improvements when developing the Xbox One X, he also talked about the future of cloud gaming technologies.
Read below what Phil Spencer said at AMD’s CES 2019 presentation:
“As we look forward to future platforms that we’re building and work that we’re doing, the partnership and the innovations that we’ve seen in the past have led to what we’ve been able to do today, I think they’re going to be critically important to our future endeavors. I’m really looking forward to showing those to people more in the future.”
When we saw Spencer at E3 2018, he confirmed that development had already begun on the next generation Xbox console. The Xbox One, as well as the PS4, were powered by a custom CPU and graphics solution made by AMD that was based on its Jaguar core architecture. Industry pundits have speculated that AMD products would be powering the upcoming generation of consoles if either of the console giants wanted relatively easy backwards compatibility with the current generation of software.
AMD boss Lisa Su gave a first glance at AMD’s 3rd Gen of Ryzen desktop CPU coming in mid 2019, they use a 7nn manufacturing process, and are based on the Zen 2 X86 core architecture. AMD claims that this new generation of processor will “Absolutely set the bar on performance, technology and power efficiency.” This sounds perfect for a new generation console right?,well is very likely that the Next Generation Xbox console will feature this architecture.
