A trailer was released for Chronos: Before the Ashes today, the action role playing game from Gunfire Games, the developers behind Remnant: From the Ashes, the action RPG third person shooter released last year. The trailer reveals Gunfire Games is putting a spin on the combat from Remnant: From the Ashes by doing away with guns in lieu of something more appropriate for the new setting. Chronos: Before the Ashes takes place hundreds, if not thousands, of years before the events of Remnant: From the Ashes in a low fantasy setting; certainly a stretch from the post-apocalyptic setting of Remnant: From the Ashes. The trailer follows the hero as he explores ruins floating in a void, ancient, forgotten libraries, and temples deep below the earth as he uses a host of medieval weapons to defend himself from the evil that lurks there. The trailer’s ominous narrator describes using skill points to best provide the hero with the tools he needs to make it through the depths, including putting points into attributes that determine what weapons he can use. A warhammer, scythe, ax and sword were shown, all accompanied with a variety of shields, as the narrator talks about the threats that await the hero.Upon death, the hero will respawn at a waypoint, only slightly older. Every time the hero dies, they resurrect a little older, slowly dying, as the narrator implies: “Death is not the end. Upon your hero’s reawakening, you’ll notice something has changed. Every time you die, your hero grows older and we all know that aging has its consequences.” Chronos: Before the Ashes comes out December 1, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.Gaming Instincts is dedicated to bringing its readers all the latest and greatest news, reviews, guides, and updates for all their favorite titles and more.
