Coronavirus Forces Delay of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Pre-Orders

The rise of the Coronavirus is already affecting the gaming industry, recently the Nintendo President of Japan, Shuntaro Furukawa talked about how the deadly virus is already affecting the production of Nintendo Switch and its Lite version. Now Nintendo of Japan has delayed pre-orders for the upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

According to ComicBook Nintendo of Japan was expecting to start pre-orders for the game on February 8th. Nintendo has not announce when the game will be available for pre-orders of if the physical version of the game will be delayed. It’s possible that the new custom version of the Nintendo Switch with design based on Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Nintendo announced last week the upcoming new version of Nintendo Switch:

Animal Crossing themed Nintendo Switch system will be available in stores at a suggested retail price of $299.99. The system takes design inspiration from the new game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons(sold separately), with lovely pastel green and blue Joy-Con controllers that are white on the back, white wrist straps and a white Nintendo Switch dock, adorned with images of recognizable characters Tom Nook and Nooklings Timmy and Tommy.

Prospective island residents that want to pre-order the system can do so at select retailers soon. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons game launches for Nintendo Switch on March 20 at a suggested retail price of $59.99.

“The video game sector is currently manufacturing, or beginning to, a once-in-several-years’ product generation change for the 2020 holiday season,” said Jefferies Group to investors in a reports from ComicBook “If [company] shutdowns exceed a month or so, game schedules will be delayed. New consoles may likewise suffer supply issues from a prolonged disruption, ahead of their Fall 2020 planned launches.”

The outbreak of the Coronavirus is getting scary as a health problem, it’s being reported that thousands are infected and the virus is killing hundreds, the gaming industry is going to be affected at a critical time, the release of next-gen systems.
