After the reveal of Infinity Ward’s upcoming Modern Warfare reboot for the Call of Duty franchise, a big piece of news dropped regarding crossplay. The new title releasing later this year will be one of the few titles that supports crossplay between not only consoles and PC, but between Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well.
And to back up those speculations, Infinity Ward’s Narrative Director Taylor Kurosaki took to Twitter to reassure fans that crossplay isn’t only happening, but it’s working within the studio now.
Crossplay between consoles and PC is nothing new to the industry, but allowing Microsoft players and Sony players to duke it out online has become a rising interest within the multiplayer community. Very few titles currently allow this feature, the biggest titles being Rocket League and Fortnite. Modern Warfare will be added to that list in hopes of showing the industry that crossplay is the future of online gaming.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare is set to release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 25, 2019.
