While the first Crysis received a remastered version last year, this year it was announced that Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 would be joining it. As such, a remastered trilogy was announced for all those that have yet to get the first game, while all three will be available individually for those that already have the first, or simply only want one or two of the games.
Now after wondering when we could expect the games and the trilogy, we were finally given a date. It looks like Crysis 2, Crysis 3, and the Crysis Remastered Trilogy will be available October 15 for the PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
The games will be available digitally, however, the trilogy will be made available physically as well for the Xbox and PlayStation platforms. As for the Nintendo Switch, it will get separate retail releases for each individual game, and will also include an exclusive art card. Each day one order for every format will receive twenty art cards, randomly assorted in them. These cards will be numbered and autographed by members of the development team.
These remasters are optimized toward the next generation of consoles means they should not have the issues that plagued the remaster of the first game. While the originals capped out at around 720p and 30 FPS on console, these remaster will run at 1080p and 4K at 60 FPS, achieved with Dynamic Resolution. Beyond that, the games feature improved lighting and visuals for character models, weapons, as well as environments.
Ahead of their launch, the studio even released comparison videos between the Xbox 360 and the Xbox Series X, as well as the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation 5, seeming confident in the improvements that have been made to the game.
For fans of the Crysis series, these should definitely be something to keep your eyes on.
