The Cursed Sails is going to be live tomorrow for Rare’s ever-loving pirate game – Sea of Theives. Are you looking to get back into the game, but not sure what’s included in the new update, and most importantly, how much bigger this update is compared to the previous release The Hungering Deep? Let’s find out.
For those who don’t know, The Hungering Deep was released back on May 31st, and wasn’t super well received due to its lack of content. However, things are a bit different with Cursed Sails. In the Cursed Sails, you must find the missing merchant, and figure out what has happened to him. You do that by talking to the locals in the outposts. But what kind of rewards and things can we expect from the Cursed Sails? As always, I will be going down the list on what you can expect from Cursed Sails when it releases tomorrow, so let’s take a peek and get ready for tomorrow’s treasure hunt.
One of the most exciting things about The Cursed Sails is the brand new 3 man Brigantine ship. It has 2 sails and is in the middle when it comes to speed and maneuverability compared to the Sloop and the Galleon. It’s finally about time we start seeing brand new ships in the world of Sea of Thieves, so gather your 3rd crewmate and get ready to set sail to hunt some booty.
For all of you fashion people out there, it’s time to get excited for a brand new clothing set – The Hunter set. Cursed Sails has plenty of new cosmetics to chase after. The Hunter set includes an outfit as well, not just the tools or musical instruments.
The rest of the Bone Crusher set is finally upon us, and I also believe this is another chance to get your hands on the speaking trumpet, and the drum that you’ve possibly missed out on during The Hungering Deep campaign. This time, however, you also get the rest of the set, including the musical instruments, and of course your trustworthy shovel, compass, spyglass and so on.
Sick of your pirate’s hair? Worry no longer matey, Rare has finally added the ability to customize your pirate’s hairstyle, including the color as well without having to re-create a new pirate and start all over. This is a great addition, and I fully welcome it. We will also be getting brand new scars and tattoo options as well.
You finally reached pirate legend you say? Well, here is a brand new reward for you in Sea of Thieves, a whole brand new legendary cosmetic set for your ship. Rare has been talking about adding more stuff for Pirate Legends, and we’re finally starting to see some of that come through. I personally haven’t hit Pirate Legend yet but I am super excited to see what is waiting for me once I get there.
With every campaign comes newly limited cosmetics – complete the campaign events before the events end, and you will be rewarded with an exclusive cosmetic set for your awesome sloop, galleon or brigantine. I also believe this cosmetic will be limited as well. The campaign will be running for 3 full weeks with brand new things to get and achieve, so make sure you are up to the task with your crewmates to get everything finishing in a timely manner. Don’t worry, we will be creating guides for all of the time limited campaign quests as well, so stick around.
Last but not least, the most exciting feature about the Cursed Sails is the Alliance System and the enemy Skeleton AI threat. The Alliance System will allow you to form crews with other ships in the world of Sea of Thieves. For example, you could ally yourself with another sloop and a galleon to take down the brand new AI thread which is, of course, the Skeleton Ship that roams around the many islands of Sea of Thieves.
You may also take on the legendary Athena voyage and share all the loot and grind your Athena rank up a lot quicker. If you wish to create an armada and start a war against another alliance on the server, you may do that as well.
We believe that the Alliance system will change the game’s dynamics in a very big way and we’re super excited to see where it goes.
That’s Cursed Sails for you in a nutshell. So what are you waiting for? Summon your pirate friends and start collecting all that loot for the shiny new cosmetics and start getting ready to go to war against enemy Alliances.
