Cyberpunk 2077 Could Be Delayed to 2021- Rumor

According to rumors, CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 could be delayed again to 2021.

IGN has reached out to CD Projekt RED for more information about the possible delay and a spokesperson confirmed vaguely that December 10 is the launch date for Cyberpunk 2077.

“As a rule, we don’t comment on rumors or speculation,” a CDPR representative told IGN in response to a request for a comment on the latest delay rumors. “But I will confirm we were just taking time to update all of our assets to reflect the new launch date of December 10th.”

Rumors started on Twitter, an insider reveals that Cyberpunk 2077 could be delayed until January 2021 due to internal discussions about the recent situation of the glitched game.

“I guess CDPR updated their profile yesterday to double down on December 10 after the rumor we heard went kind of nuts on a couple of sites. Still not convinced. Hearing bad stuff internally that there will likely be another delay till January 2021.” Affirms Tiffany Treadmore, an alleged insider of the studio.

Is important to say that the username of the Twitter user can lead other Twitter users to dismiss the information in the leaks, but the same user account has provided accurate information in the past, so while you should rumor with a grain of salt, it’s possible that the discussions about another delay could be true.

The official information from CD Projekt RED confirmed on October 27, that Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed due to the developer’s vision to release the game without bugs and glitches for several platforms. A letter signed by Adam Badowski and Marcin Iwinski also points out that remote work certainly did not help.

Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towrds almost being a next.gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make syre evertthing works well and evert version runs smoothly, We’re aware it might seem unrealistic when we say that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do.

In late September, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier affirmed that CD Projekt RED had entered in a state of full crunch to meet the previous November 19 launch date.  Schreier affirms that an informant revealed that chief executive officer Marcin Iwinski lied when he said to Kotaku that CD Projekt RED would be avoiding mandatory crunch and was “committed” to not ask employees to work overtime.

“Starting today, the entire (development) studio is in overdrive,” Badowski wrote, elaborating that this meant “your typical amount of work and one day of the weekend.” The extra work would be paid, as required by Polish labor laws. Many other video game studios don’t pay for overtime.

“I take it upon myself to receive the full backlash for the decision,” he wrote. “I know this is in direct opposition to what we’ve said about crunch. It’s also in direct opposition to what I personally grew to believe a while back — that crunch should never be the answer. But we’ve extended all other possible means of navigating the situation.”

Cyberpunk 2077 has seen two delays in 2020

. Borys Niespielak, affirmed that the delay is due to “performance issues” on current-gen consoles. According to Niespielak, the studio establishes a deadline for fixing these issues, if the development team fails to fix the bugs the game is inevitably delayed.
