Cyberpunk 2077
has been delayed, the announcement was made today by developer CD Projekt Red. The game will not release in April, as is now scheduled for a launch date on September 17, 2020.
The developer has share a letter to fans explaining the situation:
“We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there’s still work to be done.”
Adam Badowki Head of Studio explain in the letter that Night City is a large place full of content, and due it’s complexity the developer needs more time to finish fixing some bugs.
“Night City is massive- full of stories, content and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing.”
Co-Founder Marcin Iwinski also signed the letter
We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give us precious months we need to make the game perfect.
We’re really looking forward to seeing you in Night City thank you for your ongoing support!”
For those who are not familiar with Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person RPG that places players in the shoes of a mercenary named V. Night City is filled with several factions destroying each others for the control of the city.
The game has been in development for almost a decade (2012), Cyberpunk 2077 has kept fans waiting for a really long time, seeing screenshots, trailers and rumors.
Developed using the REDengine 4 game engine, Cyberpunk 2077 will release for PC, PS4, Stadia and Xbox One. Adapted for the Cyberpunk franchise, the game will feature an open world dystopian city called Night City, featuring six regions. The main protagonist will be largely customizable , skills such as hacking and machinery will be crucial for the danger that awaits him.
