Following last year’s policy on showcasing the gameplay demo of Cyberpunk 2077 for media at first, CD Projekt RED revealed the new gameplay footage behind the closed doors at E3 2019, though E3 attendees also got the chance to check out a shortened version of the demo. Today, CDPR officially announced that the same thing will happen at Gamescom 2019.
According to the developer’s latest press release, Cyberpunk 2077 will have its own booth at Gamescom 2019 just like this year’s E3, and the new gameplay demo will be shown in two versions. A shortened one will be showcased for all attendees, and a full presentation will be available for media behind the closed doors. The footage will officially go online at PAX West on August 30, though at first it was supposed to be shared on internet during this year’s Gamescom.
Aside from presenting the demo, CD Projekt RED will be hosting the qualifier stage for Cyberpunk 2077 Cosplay Contest, which includes $2000 for the winner along with some other prizes and qualifying to the grand finale.
This year’s gamescom will also play host to the first offline qualifier of the official Cyberpunk 2077 Cosplay Contest. The event will take place on Friday, August 23rd, and will see participants compete for the title of the most authentic Cyberpunk 2077 cosplay. First place prize will include $2000, Cyberpunk 2077-inspired merchandise, as well as a spot in the Cosplay Contest Grand Finale sporting a $30,000 prize pool.
Gamescom 2019 will kick-off with an opening live-stream on August 19, but the gameplay demo for Cyberpunk 2077 will be shown between August 20 and August 24 at Hall 6, Stand C049.
The long anticipation for Cyberpunk 2077 will end on April 16 when it launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
