Cyberpunk 2077 was previously scheduled to launch on November 19, however, due to bugs and performance issues on some of the nine versions of the game being developed, the studio decided to push back the launch of the game until December 10.
Borys Niespielak, affirmed that the delay is due to “performance issues” on current-gen consoles. According to Niespielak, the studio establishes a deadline for fixing those kinds of issues, if the developers cannot fix the bugs the game could be inevitably delayed until 2021.
“Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towards almost being a next-gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make sure everything works well and evert version runs smoothly, We’re aware it might seem unrealistic when we say that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do.” Reads a letter to fans wrote by Adam Badowski and Marcin Iwinski.
The announcement of Episode 5 of Night City Live could be interpreted as a confirmation of the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on December 10. Reportedly, the studio is in a full crunch to avoid another delay, but earlier this week, a rumor appeared on Twitter warning about a possible delay.

“I guess CDPR updated their profile yesterday to double down on December 10 after the rumor we heard went kind of nuts on a couple of sites. Still not convinced. Hearing bad stuff internally that there will likely be another delay till January 2021.” Affirms Tiffany Treadmore, an alleged insider of the studio.
