CD Projekt RED made a name for itself with the launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt back in 2013, but their upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 is going to hit all the previous records of the Polish studio, at least in terms of sales. After the game’s huge blast at E3 2019, pre-orders became available and since then, it’s experienced a considerable amount of sales with quite a bit of them submitted on GOG.
According to the latest tweet from CDPR’s official account, one third of the pre-orders for PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 have been made on GOG, which returns all the revenue completely to the development team without giving any shares to third-party retailers. CDPR believes that if players keep buying the game from GOG, the revenue amount for the game will definitely go further the expectations.
#DidYouKnow — every third copy of the digital version of #Cyberpunk2077 for PC so far has been pre-ordered on @GOGcom! Thank you for your support — it’s breathtaking! pic.twitter.com/Oypidsi6lg

Regarding the existence of Steam as a big rival out there, it’s interesting to see almost 33% of players on PC have trusted to GOG and CDPR’s own client. Unlike EGS’s exclusivity policy, this is what we can call a completely fair competition without forcing players to buy their beloved games from a certain store.
Cyberpunk 2077 is slated to launch on April 16 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game will be coming in two versions including Standard and Collector’s Editions.
