Cyberpunk 2077 Patches And Free DLC Delayed To 2022

It looks like the next-gen upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 are not the only things that CD Projekt Red will be delayed into 2022. An update to the Cyberpunk 2077 development roadmap has revealed that several “updates, improvements, and free DLCs,” that were planned for release before the end of this year have now been pushed back into 2022.

While the specific reasons were not given as part of the roadmap, it does come on the heels of the next-gen updates also being delayed into quarter 1 and quarter 2 of next year. It is possible that both delays were designed to coincide with each other, or simply the company has been delayed and needed to adjust their whole map as a result.

The most recent update to Cyberpunk 2077 was released in September, which added wet roads back into the game, as well as an improved mini-map. The update before that in August added the game’s first small batch of free DLC though it was all cosmetic only.

Of course, the updates for both games for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are the most likely top priority for the company right now since that is where the money is. Previously, when Cyberpunk 2077 returned to the PlayStation Store after being removed, the game saw a significant bump in sales even amid warnings that the game was still problematic.

The official FAQ for the roadmap states:

We’re still planning on releasing free DLC for the game, just like with The Witcher 3. However, we have decided that our priority is working on the most important fixes and updates. So far, we have released the first DLC pack together with Patch 1.3, and we will be releasing more in the future — we’ll have more to say about that in the coming months.

Cyberpunk 2077

is in a far better state than it was a year ago, that is for sure. Hopefully, these patches continue to make the game better, though CD Projekt Red has a lot of ground to clear to regain the public trust they once held.
