Cyberpunk 2077 Players Shouldn’t Be Worried About the Console Versions, Says Developer

From the day we got our first look at Cyberpunk 2077 until the latest gameplay demo that was shared at E3 2019, all the demos were running on high-end PCs and we haven’t seen any footage of the game on PS4 or Xbox One so far, which has worried some fans about its graphics on consoles, though CDPR says you shouldn’t be worried.

CD Projekt RED’s Red Engine is very powerful in creating wonderful worlds and stunning graphics, but when it comes to console ports, the result is never as optimized as PC version. We’ve seen it in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and all the things we want is not to experience the same issue with Cyberpunk 2077 again. However, CDPR says consoles will be treated as “first-class” platforms for their upcoming RPG. Alvin Liu said:

We’re targeting consoles as first class platforms and it looks amazing there. So obviously, if you spent, you know, $2,000 building your PC rig, it’s going to look better on that. But the graphics are quite amazing for what you’re going to get from Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles and low-end PCs.

There is no doubt that downgrades will be inevitable in the console versions of the game, but the scale for this downgrade really matters to the players who don’t own a high-end PC.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to be released on April 16 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
