Cyberpunk 2077 Reaches “Satisfactory” Performance

After 6 months of patches, updates, and an absence from the Playstation Store, it would seem the Devs are finally satisfied with the state of Cyberpunk 2077. At least, that is what CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński said during a WSE Innovation Day Conference on June 23.

In an interview with VGC via TVN24, Kiciński explained that the game was finally in a stable enough state to begin focusing on updating parts of the game and not just fixing it. Speaking at length he stated:

We have also been working on improving the overall quality, which we are also quite happy about, Of course, we also removed bugs and visual glitches and we will continue to do that. Over time, we will also be introducing improvements to the general game systems that players have highlighted.

The game released on December 10th for the PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One, PC, and Stadia and really was a story of two halves. Those that had a PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S suffered minimal issues. While gamers on these consoles still had issues they were by in large nothing compared to players on base versions of the prior consoles.

These issues were so bad that PlayStation removed the game from their console marketplace. Xbox, on the other hand, did not remove it but placed a warning on the game that the game suffered from performance issues. Both Console stores, as well as many retailers, offered consumers refunds for the game due to the problemed state.

While Kiciński may be optimistic about the current state of the game, warnings from both PlayStation and Xbox seem at odds with that, still warning against the game if you do not own the more powerful consoles. The one thing that has been made clear through both employee statements since shortly after the release of the game, and these statements now, is that the game was not ready to release in December.
