Cyberpunk 2077 Will Distinguish Itself in Terms of Non-Linear Gameplay, Says Developer

CD Projekt RED is currently working on its most ambitious title ever, and at the same time, with the studio’s valuable games so far like The Witcher series, most of the fans are begging to play Cyberpunk 2077 as soon as possible. With all the well-known strength that we saw in The Witcher franchise, now CD Projekt RED believes Cyberpunk 2077 has something that distinguish it from the previous titles of the studio and that is the non-linearity of gameplay.

According to an interview with quest director at CD Projekt RED, Cyberpunk 2077 utilizes the non-linearity in both story and gameplay, in which the latter is going to make a big difference within the studio’s title and take the game to the next level. Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz said:

We still have the elements that have appeared in previous games. As I mentioned before, we have decisions, consequences, good characters, etc. I think the new thing in this project and that takes it to the next level is the non-linearity of the gameplay, which we will realize when we play through the missions.

Which means there are many ways to complete missions based on how you’ve created your character, tools you use, etc. And I think this is something that makes our game different from The Witcher. Because in The Witcher we had a basic loop in the gameplay, finding non-linearity in the narrative section. This time the gameplay will also have a non-linear character. I think this is where the big difference lies in terms of the complexity of our missions, compared to The Witcher.

As we have seen in the 48-minute gameplay trailer of Cyberpunk 2077, you are free to do your missions in a wide variety of ways as you choose your path in picking up the dialogues. However, the character that you make for yourself at first and the abilities you choose to learn in-game, will guide you to different ways for fulfilling the missions.

Cyberpunk 2077 will have a big premiere at E3 2019, as the developer claims and we all hope to finally get a release date and also see more of the game’s story and gameplay.
