Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Allow You to Drive Boats or Flying Vehicles

Cyberpunk 2077 has received another gameplay demo this year at E3 2019 which was only shown for some selected gaming media and while a few of the visitors blamed it for some small issues, most of the invited people praise the game having the capability of being one of the greatest hits of the next year and even the current generation of consoles.

Although CD Projekt RED didn’t showcase the game publicly, it did reveal some new details on gameplay features that are interesting to hear. During multiple interviews with different members of the CDPR team, they provided new information on Cyberpunk 2077 such as including multiple endings.

Following this kind of brief but important news, lead quest designer at CDPR Pawel Sasko revealed new bits of information on vehicles in-game. According to Sasko, flying vehicles and boats are not freely accessible in the game, but players will have the chance to drive them in some story-focused missions. Anyway, V is able to swim, though he presumably hasn’t been taught how to drive a boat. Sasko said:

There are flying vehicles that are like the story elements, and so there will be moments when V is in the flying vehicle, but they’re always story-focused. I would have to spoil you a bit of the story, I don’t want to, but there are moments when you are in the flying vehicle but you cannot drive it yourself over the city. For that you have all kinds of cars, all kinds of motorcycles. It feels pretty good, actually, to be honest.

There are boats in the game, definitely, and there are even some story elements focused around the boats – don’t want to spoil the story too much. But definitely boats are a part of the game but you cannot drive the boat. You can swim, but I would like not to disclose anything! We had some quests in The Witcher that were focused around water and doing stuff around the water, and we have something here as well.

It might disappoint some fans that have been expecting a full support of vehicle in the game, but as the quest designer claims, driving cars and motorcycles are satisfying enough. However, it needs to encompass a wide variety of on-ground vehicles in-game.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on April 16 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
