It is pretty much a known quantity that the A team from From Software has been hard at work bringing the latest adventure in the Dark Souls franchise to life. Just mere hours ago a roughly six minute video of raw game footage of this work in progress surfaced on the web. This is an unfinished game, so there will be a few aspects of this video that may come off as rough around the edges. Nonetheless, it is great to see how Dark Souls III is taking shape so far. Here is the full video in its entirely.
As one can easily hear, there is no sound present in this footage. The team may still be tweaking elements of the sound design or it could be a situation where the engine needs to be optimized to work a little more efficiently. As always, the background music supplied in place of the true audio is presumably from the game’s final soundtrack and sounds solid. The game play is impressive and polished like its previously released brethren, but some of the animations can come off as being bit rigid.
As has been proven of From Software’s illustrious pedigree of fantasy adventure titles dating all the way back to the Original King’s Field, this game looks gorgeous in its rendering. Everything has a such a texture and atmosphere about it that paints an appropriately dismal world of tough choices and dire consequences. An important thing to note is that this may not be footage of the final build of Dark Souls III. It is not yet known whether or not this title has gone gold yet, but it is getting close seeing that the base Japanese has to be ready for release on March 42, 2016 for that territory. This also rings true for its North American release on April 12, 2016. Dark Souls III will be coming out for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One when it launches.
