The first game ever that features cross-play between PS4, Xbox One and PC at launch, gained 500,000 players in 24 hours after release. Dauntless, Phoenix Labs’ co-op monster slaying title now has a community with over 4 million players worldwide on all of the platforms.
Initially launch in beta phase for PC almost one year ago, Dauntless delivers a huge shared world for players, in which they take the role of different professional slayers to fight against Behemoths and keep the island secure from the threat of monstrous creatures. The game’s co-op based gameplay seems to be a good fit for those who are looking for a light and free-to-play version of Monster Hunter World.
The thing that makes Dauntless to seem more distinct than other titles in the same genre is its cross-play support that is being added to the game as of its launch as a full free-to-play game on PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 21 this year. It’s the first time in the history that a game features cross-play between Sony and Microsoft players at launch, which the studio tends to call “One Dauntless”
Thanks to this great capability, Dauntless has added 500K new players to its community in 24 hours after its full launch a few days ago. According to the development team, now the game has officially reached 4 million total players that all of them are able to play with each other without any limitations. Also, Phoenix Labs has promised the release of a Nintendo Switch version for Dauntless, as well as Android and iOS versions of the game. Besides, there will be more contents and post-launch additions coming to the game in the near future to respect the community’s great reception.
Dauntless is now available for free on Epic Games Store for PC, while you can also get it on PS4 and Xbox One.
