A week or two we reported that a new Dead Space game was in the works over at EA Motive. At the time, and even now, we still do not know much about the project other than it will not be a continuation of the previous games. According to new rumors, it is intended to be a Remake as well as a reboot, and it will take cues from the Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Eurogamer and Gamatsu first reported on the story earlier that the Star Wars Battlefront II co-development team at Motive was working on a Dead Space game. After which GamesBeat has been able to confirm certain things that both have heard. This lends a lot of credibility to the fact the project is in development at least.
According to new claims, the game is looking to Capcoms Resident Evil 2 Remake for inspiration when reviving the series. Similar to the Resident Evil franchise, the Dead Space series was considered to have lost its way when the action elements overtook the horror at the series roots. Hopefully, we will see this game put horror first since that was what the original was beloved for.
The game will also most likely use the core mechanics of the earlier game as a base for whatever they choose to upgrade. Since a LOT of games have released since the first Dead Space released in 2008. There are most likely plenty of changes that can make the game function better than ever, but all will be used to build on the original mechanics.
In fact, the game most likely owes a lot more than a concept to the Resident Evil franchise. The recent resurgence of the series, with the remake and main series most likely offer up an easy model for restoring the franchise. The recent hit of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order also most likely opened EA Games to the prospect of single-player games, having invested heavily in live series titles in recent years.
EA Play will be held on July 22, and has been rumored to be where the game will be revealed.
