Death by Game Show is certainly one of the weirdest indie games I’ve seen in a while, it’s premise is set in the 26th century and is about humanity becoming irreversibly stupid due to the 21st century social media loop that humanity got caught into, then suddenly a life form known as U.H.Wutt, a tub of goo, is sentenced to rehabilitation with a high probability of death for being too smart, that event is know as the death by game show.
If all of this sounds completely off, you are not alone, here is a trailer that showcases the gameplay and setting:
The game released on January 22 for PC, Mac and Linux, no mention of a console release as of yet
“Death by Game Show is a twitch-action, tower defense and strategy game set in the 26th Century, inspired by the movie Idiocracy, and full of pop culture references with a twist of skill-based strategy and the reward of high score ‘one more try’ shenanigans. Extremely challenging and sometimes seemingly impossible, this is our twist on frenetic-off-the-wall-strategy.
The star of Death by Game Show is U.H.Wutt, a lovable tub of goo in the mold of Tommy Boy, Uncle Buck, and our friend Homer J. Simpson. He’s ready for action with an arsenal that includes a flying GameShow Intimidation Masheen of Pwnage locker (“Bring out the G.I.M.P.”), the Wheel of Misfortune, and a junkyard’s worth of droids, buildings and power-ups.”
