Deathloop is an upcoming FPS from the team behind Dishonored. The new shooter takes players in a mysterious time loop on the island of Blackreef, doomed to repeat the same day for eternity. Taking the role of Colt, the only chance for escape is to end the cycle by assassinating eight key targets before the day resets.
Deathloop was originally scheduled to launch in 2020, but the development team admitted that the studio was having a hard time adjusting to working from home.
COVID-19 has caused several delays in upcoming games. 2021 has seen the delays of Gran Turismo 7, Riders Republic, Prince of Persia, Hogwarts Legacy, Back 4 Blood, and Gotham Knights.
Phil Spencer forecasts that this year will see the full impact of COVID-19 on the videogames industry. The Xbox boss explains that remote work causes a major setback for the industry as there are “big limitations on what can be done from home”, for example, motion capture.
“Mocap is just something that’s basically stopped. We’re not going into mocap studios,” Spencer told Business Insider. “If you had all your animation captured and you’re doing touch up in more individual art production and in areas like textures and other things, you’re in a better position.
