Deathloop has been officially announced to release May 21, 2021.In a leak earlier this week on the New Zealand PlayStation store, Deathloop appeared with a release date of May 21, 2021. As it turns out, this leak was real. Developer Arkane Lyon announced today that Deathloop would, in fact, be releasing May 21, 2021, starting with PlayStation 5 exclusivity as well as releasing for PC. The exclusivity deal happened before Microsoft purchased Bethesda earlier this year, so Bethesda and Arkane are continuing to honor the prior deal. Bethesda announced the release date with a trailer showing off more gameplay that hits the same beats as what it has shown in previous trailers. Along with this, the developers announced two editions that will be available on release: the Standard Edition, which will cost $59.99, and the Deluxe Edition, which will cost $79.99. Pre-ordering either edition nets the player three, in-game items: Deathloop Pre-Order Bonuses
The Deluxe Edition comes with this and a few other additions for the extra $20: Deathloop Deluxe Edition contains:
Deathloop takes place on the island of Blackreef where the protagonist, Colt, must escape a time loop where he must relive the same day over and over again. To end the loop, Colt must use his “extraordinary abilities and devastating weapons” to find a way to eliminate eight key targets within a single day. This must be done all while being chased by Juliana, a hitman whose priority is keeping the time loop going by any means necessary. Players can choose to be Juliana, invading other players worlds and taking them out. Whether the player chooses to be Colt or Juliana, think Groundhog Day but with Mods and murder.
