Bungie used to be a first-party studio for Microsoft and the main team behind Halo series for nearly 10 years, but however the studio decided to come out of Xbox’s shadow and develop a totally new IP in collaboration with Activision. Destiny hit the consoles as a cross-generation title back in 2014 and three years later Destiny 2 appeared as a successful sequel for what Bungie has created not completely at first. Partnering with Activision as the publisher for the first-person shooter series didn’t end up well, as Bungie decided to take the rights for Destiny and farewell with Activision probably forever. Now, while Destiny 2 still gets its post-launch contents on time, fans wonder how the future is going to be for the franchise, but don’t worry! you don’t have to wait so much for the answer, as the developer recently announced that it will share more information about a new era for Bungie and Destiny 2 soon.
Based on a blogpost on Bungie’s official website, the studio confirmed that along with launching Opulence as the next upcoming content for Destiny 2, new information will be revealed about “a new era” for Bungie and Destiny 2. David Dague, community lead at Bungie said:
We’ll be looking deeper into the future, and sharing with you more about a new era for Bungie and Destiny 2.
With next season of Opulence arriving on June 4, the set of details will probable come out before E3 2019 or even at the event itself. While previously we’ve received unofficial details about the reveal of Destiny 3 in the near future, it’s likely to hear more about Bungie and its valuable IP at E3 this year. Maybe the studio comeback to Xbox Game Studios once again, which as interesting as it seems impossible.
Destiny 2 is currently available on PS4, Xbox One and PC through Battle.net, but due to the studio’s split-up with Activision, the next entry of the series have to find another digital store to get released.
