Destruction AllStars just released a new gameplay trailer showcasing the newest in the PlayStation 5 roster. In the vein of Rocket League, Lucid Games is creating a world surrounding the events in the arena. The developer describes the game as a “global sports entertainment event where stars and cars collide.” The player can choose from sixteen heroes, each with a unique vehicle to them. An opponent isn’t out when their car explodes, however. If this happens, the player has the opportunity to go on foot, running around and avoiding certain vehicular death while gaining enough points to call a special. Every hero has different abilities that can help them out of sticky situations, like turning invisible or the ability to steal someone else’s car. The newest trailer shows off Lupita, a wolf girl who causes loads of destruction. Initially, she wreaks havoc with her vehicle but, once it’s destroyed, has to run around on foot, avoiding cars with dodge moves and wall running. Once the player gets enough wrecks on their opponents, they can call their special. Lupita’s special, in this trailer, is Wildfire. A car that leaves a trail of flames behind it for maximum mayhem. Destruction AllStars was announced in June during PlayStation’s bevy of game announcements for the new system. It was, however, delayed until February 2021 from its original November 2020 release date. “Destruction AllStars is a multiplayer game that’s at its best when you’re competing with gamers online from all around the world,” says game Director Pete Smith. “We want as many people as possible to experience the mayhem on PS5, and what better way to do that than to provide the game to our PS Plus members?” Making Destruction AllStarsas accessible as possible is a great way to get players committed to this new entry to the battle arena genre.
