At the BlizzCon 2018 opening ceremony fans did something that Blizzard reportedly where expecting at some degree, but it went far worst that they ever expected, fans booed the announcement of Diablo Immortal, fans where expecting confirmation on the development of Diablo 4.
The YouTube trailer of Diablo Immortal has been disliked by over 360k fans, and those who liked it are mere 12k, fans has been very vocal about how they felt this announcement as a ‘slap in the face’ and Blizzard’s P.R. team has been spotted deleting fan’s opinions against the new Diablo game, with RedPill Shark’s comment being deleted, more than fifteen times had he to re-upload his opinion.
RedPill Shark: “They did it again, I had the top comment on this video TWICE, so I say again…. “No King Rules Forever My Son” It has been a great 20 or so years blizz., I will always remember playing Orcs vs Humans VIA 56k Dial up with my best friend. Bye.”
If the game wasn’t a slap in the face it’s the fact that Blizzard’s P.R. team is handling this situation with shutting down peoples opinion, and surely they can do better.

This whole scenario led to Allen Adham, executive producer and Blizzard co-founder to come out and confirm that other Diablo games are in development, implying Diablo 4 might be next.
“We have said that we have multiple Diablo teams working on multiple Diablo projects and that remains true, even after releasing [Diablo 3 for Nintendo] Switch and announcing Diablo: Immortal,” Adham said. “We still have multiple Diablo teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects. Diablo is a tentpole franchise for us. And it always will be. We love it. We hope our fans understand what we’re saying when we say that.”
“[Diablo: Immortal] was created from the ground up — from the initial get-go [our intention] was to create that Diablo experience on mobile,” Elggren said. “So the feel, the UI and everything around this game is built with the philosophy to make the best Diablo experience we can on a mobile platform.”
“The world is evolving both geographically and demographically,” he said. “Younger folks now, many of them, mobile is their primary gaming device. And then around the world in many regions it’s their primary gaming device, and so it’s always been our aspiration [to bring games to them].
Fans also spotted that Diablo Immortal might just be a re-skin in the best way like Nintendo did with making some changes here and there for the American release of Super Mario Bros. 2. Blizzard can’t deny that NetEase’s Crusaders of Sunshine and Diablo Immortal are nearly identical, U.I is possibly the best example of it. In a post made at Instant’s website, Blizzard said the following:
“Blizzard, in partnership with NetEase, has constructed Diablo Immortal from the bottom up for iOS/Android.”
To add salt to injury Wyatt Cheng, lead game designer of Diablo Immortal’s, has confirmed the game won’t work if you’re offline, stating that “the game would not allow you to.”
We can’t say yet whether if Diablo Immortal is a good or bad game, but having Blizzard teased fans for so long, giving fans a NetEase game with a Diablo label and fans paying a ticket to BlizzCon to face that is certainly a tough pill to swallow.
