On February 18th, the winners of the 19th annual DICE Awards will be revealed in Las Vegas to conclude the 2016 DICE Summit. Today the finalists were announced, and they include some of the biggest games of 2015 but also some smaller titles like Ori and the Blind Forest and Life is Strange.
As contenders for the Game of the Year Award, we find Bloodborne, Fallout 4, Ori and the Blind Forest, Rise of the Tomb Raider and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The event will also honor Satoru Iwata with a Lifetime Achievement Award and Hideo Kojima will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Satoru Iwata who was the CEO of Nintendo died in 2015 and is fondly remembered by many gamers all around the world. Hideo Kojima is the creator of the Metal Gear Solid series and was recently fired from Konami only to start his own studio a few weeks later.
The DICE Summit was started in 2002 by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. It’s a gathering of video game executives held for several days.

Fifty-three games received a D.I.C.E. nomination, representing a range of different platforms from teams of developers both large and small. Leading the count is Rise of the Tomb Raider with 9 nominations and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with 8. Game of the Year finalists include: Bloodborne, Fallout 4, Ori and the Blind Forest, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Several games received multiple nods, including: Ori and the Blind Forest with six nominations; Fallout 4 receiving five nominations; Her Story, The Order: 1886 and Stars Wars Battlefront each with four nominations; Batman: Arkham Knight, Destiny: The Taken King, Rocket League, Lara Croft GO, Life is Strange, and Undertale with 3 each.”
