Dirt 5 Has Been Delayed Until November 6

Codemasters has just announced that DIRT 5 will now be releasing on Friday 6 November 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The delay will allow the development team to “release all versions of the game in a shorter timeframe” Codemasters said referring the PS5 and Xbox Series X version of DIRT 5.

The revised launch date will allow us to take advantage of the next-generation console launches which are expected in time for the holiday season.

Interestingly, the delay might actually be linked with Dirt 5 aiming to be a launch title for next-gen consoles. The Verge’s Tom Warren reportedly received a leaked image from an insider that allegedly contains Xbox Series X’s controller, the package has a warningfrom Microsoft that prevents the retailer to reveal the contents of the box before November 6.

A miscommunication problem between SEGA and Microsoft has also pointed at a possible launch date for Xbox Series X. The Japanese publisher confirmed that Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a launch title for Xbox Series X, a few weeks later Microsoft confirms that the game will be available on November 12, 2020.

SEGA’s unintentional leak is in accordance with recent information from an alleged leaker, PS5 launching on November 14 in Japan, followed by a worldwide launch on November 20. If the alleged leak is to be believed the PS5  will cost $500.

DIRT 5 will launch on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 later this year. A Google Stadia version will release in early 2021. Players who purchase the Amplified Edition will receive exclusive content and three days of early access. The game supports both Xbox Smart Delivery and PlayStation’s free upgrade when players switch to an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5.
