Disney has just announced that Disney+ their streaming service will launch this year on November 12th for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
Disney+ is not limited to gaming platforms as it’s confirmed that phones, tables and Smart TV’s are also included what makes an awesome flex of power by the entertainment giant. What makes this announcement very interesting is the fact that the Nintendo Switch is included in the list of supported devices, a platform who is know to be very limited with the streaming service options.
Disney has confirmed that you can subscribe to Disney+ for consoles at $6.99/month or $69.99/year, obviously it will feature all imaginable content from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel.
Disney+ will also be the home to stream Captain Marvel and the MCU, most Pixar films and shorts, Star Wars movies, and even all 30 seasons of The Simpsons. They’re also working on original content like a new Loki series starring Tom Hiddleston, and a Rogue One Stars prequel series featuring Cassian Andor.
In addition to streaming, users will be able to download their shows and movies if they’re going offline for a bit. Netflix also supports this feature but only on select content.
It does look like the service will launch first in the United States this year with other “major regions” rolling out in the next two years.
Disney CEO Bob Iger announced last year that Marvel’s Lokii will get an original series exclusively for Disney+, a prequel for Rouge One: A Star Wars Story was also announced. So is really an interesting offer by Disney, and it’s something that will take Nintendo and the Switch to new levels of entertainment.
