The riveting and thoroughly challenging platformer Celeste hit the mark on how engaging and memorable an indie can truly be upon its release in early 2018. Matt Makes Games is updating the over year old title with a new free DLC – and it’s now been confirmed to have over 100 new levels for the player to tear their hair out over.
The confirmation comes from the game’s creator Matt Thorson via Twitter as he explains the number of total levels to expect in the free DLC, alongside his expressing why there’s no official release date set in place.
This obviously means over 100 “areas” or “rooms” as it’s unlikely the free content would contain 100 new actual levels each with different settings and backgrounds. That would be incredibly massive.
The initial release window for the new DLC content was scheduled for earlier this year, but failed to hit that mark by a long-shot as the new levels have still yet to be released. He goes on to explain the reasoning behind the delay is simply because the new Chapter 9 content continued to grow – which seems like a positive reasoning to us.
Celeste is currently available on most major platforms today, including the Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC (sorry mobile). The new Chapter 9 DLC should be setting up to release soon, but we’ll be sure to provide an update once we learn of one.
