DmC Sequel In Consideration, Up To Ninja Theory

With the recent success of Capcom’s Devil May Cry V, many fans are still craving more of the demon slaying action. While the mainline series has been reinvigorated due to the success of the fifth entry, the spin-off developed by Ninja Theory still has quite the following.

DmC: Devil May Cry released all the way back in 2013 as a spin-off to the original series, retelling the events with an outside developer on board. Ninja Theory did a few things different from the original series and created a whole new experience in the Devil May Cry saga.

The producer of Devil May Cry V, Matt Walker, recently stated in an interview with Feed4Gamers that a sequel for DmC was definitely a possibility, but would require the original developers – Ninja Theory – to be on board.

“We’d still love to see a sequel, but we think it absolutely has to be made by Ninja Theory(…)So much of the amazing style and substance in that game was only possible because they have such a knack for what’s cool. It wouldn’t be DmC without Ninja Theory.” – Matt Walker, Devil May Cry V Producer

While this would no doubt excite fans of the series, especially fans of the spin-off, one underlying factor would have to come into play. Ninja Theory has undergone a new shift in ownership since the inception of DmC, that is they’re now owned by first party publisher, Microsoft. If they were to work on a sequel to their spin-off remake, that could possibly create a Microsoft exclusive release which could negate some fans playing on other consoles; but would make for an exciting release for Xbox and PC players.

Stay tuned for any more news regarding a potential sequel to Ninja Theory’s rendition of Capcom’s beloved series.
