Doom 64 Officially Announced for the Switch

During this week’s extensive Nintendo Direct showcase, it was revealed that Bethesda’s not finished releasing old Doom titles on modern consoles as the Nintendo 64 exclusive, Doom 64, will be releasing on the Switch later this fall. Bethesda has been actively supporting the Nintendo console, and the latest reveal just keeps fans anticipating the Doom 64 appearance for the first time since the original back in 1997.

Here’s a quick overview of the game which you can view below:

Celebrate Doom‘s 25th anniversary with Doom 64, originally released on Nintendo 64 in 1997.
Take the fight to Hell at home or on-the-go with Doom 644’s triumphant return to Nintendo Switch!

Fight against demons in your crusade to hunt down the Mother of Demons and stop Hell’s invasion. As you battle through more than 30 action-packed levels, be on the lookout for enhanced weapons and secrets to help you put an end to the demonic threat.

It’s been rumored a while now that Doom 64 might be making its way over to modern consoles. However, the initial PEGI leak stated that PS4 and PC would be receiving the Nintendo exclusive Doom title, so it;s a bit surprising to see only the Switch re-release so far. That doesn’t necessarily mean other platforms won’t be seeing the re-release, especially considering Bethesda surprise released the original Doom trilogy earlier this summer for multiple platforms.

Bethesda also recently announced that the original Doom trilogy re-releases on modern platforms received an update for the mandatory one-time login which was hindering those without stable internet connection. The update makes the login optional rather than mandatory, allowing players to play the classic shooters without the need to login to their Bethesda account.

Doom 64 is set to release on the switch on November 22, 2019 – the same day that the next evolution of the Doom series – Doom Eternal – releases on the PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
