Dragon Age 4 Will Be Next Gen Only – Rumor

Dragon Age 4

has been in development for a while now though not much has been showcased other than brief showcases of artwork for it. According to new reports, the game is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC with no plans for previous-generation versions to be released.

This news is by no means shocking, we are approaching the one-year mark since these consoles became the current generation of consoles, but this news showcases that companies like EA are preparing to move beyond the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Since these companies are usually the ones that keep the past gen active the longest we might be looking at the beginning of the end for that generation.

This news comes from the Linkedin profile of the upcoming projects lead Player designer, Daniel Nordlander, who lists the game releasing for the systems mentioned above. Several other outlets have also seemingly been able to confirm this news separately as well.

EA as a company, in order to maximize its profits by not excluding the audience, often releases games across new platforms and older ones well into their life cycle. Recently Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was released without a native version to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, despite both having been out for months by then, and opted for a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Release.

This approach is most noticeable in their yearly sports releases with their most recent, FIFA 2022 releasing across the scores of platforms available to consumers. Similarly, their popular first-person shooter Battlefield 2042 will also release on previous-gen, though it has been designed from the ground up to take advantage of the newer hardware.
