Dragon Ball Creator Confirms New Stories Will Be Told in Upcoming DBZ Kakarot

Bandai Namco finally pulled back the curtains of the upcoming Dragon Ball Z action-RPG title, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Upon viewing the reveal trailer as well as some gameplay footage showing off how the game works, we’ve also learned a little bit about what to expect in terms of story.

While anyone familiar with the iconic story of Goku (Kakarot) in the Dragon Ball universe may be looking forward to the new title starring the spiky haired warrior, some might be a bit hesitant to experience yet another telling of the series’ protagonist for the umpteenth time.

However, series creator and manga legend Akira Toriyama has confirmed that the new game will include some new side stories from Goku’s life-long saga that were previously left out of the manga and anime series. You can check out the tweeted message from Toriyama below:

The gameplay footage recently shown off also gave fans a look at various side quests to take on around the world of Dragon Ball. All in all, it’ll be a nice change to experience the world of DBZ in a fleshed out RPG rather than the traditional action/fighting genres in years passed.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot doesn’t have an official release date as of yet, but is expected to release in early 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
