Fans of the long-running action franchise about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Dynasty Warriors, can get a taste of Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires thanks to a new demo for the game available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch. This demo comes as the prelude to the game itself, which after several delays is now set to release on February 15th.
Empires is an upgraded version of their 2018 game, the first in the series to use an open world map. This format change was met with some mixed reviews, though the combat remained relatively unchanged, with plenty of historical figures to play as. This version will still have an open field to explore through the game that has received multiple changes.
This demo offers a look at several new features that will be added to this version of the game. It will offer a limited version of the Edit mode in the game, allowing players to create in-game officers and bring them into combat, through the game’s new Castle Seige mode, which now serves as the main source of combat.
Things to note with this demo include that, as Koei Tecmo has stated, the demo is set to one of the harder difficulties. This can be adjusted in the full release but for players that are unfamiliar with the game, there might be a slight learning curve before you are controlling the battlefield. The second thing of note is that saved officers that players create using the edit mode will translate into the final game, meaning there is no need to painstakingly try to remember what features you gave them.
While Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires was released in Japan in December, it will be available in Wester Regions on February 15th. It will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia.
