E3 2017: Ubisoft Announces Starlink: Battle for Atlas

It was announced by Ubisoft Toronto during its E3 2017 press conference, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, which is aiming for a fall 2018 release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The game is available for pre-order now.

Check out the announcement trailer of Starlink: Battle for Atlas:

The game incorporates a toys-to-life mechanic, with a modular spaceship and its pilot attaching atop the player’s controller. Pieces can be added to or taken off the base ship model, instantly altering the in-game version of the spaceship, while players can choose to play as different pilots based on the figure attached to their controller.

The game follows a group of pilots who have travelled to the Atlas Star System, and players will control their ship from a third-person perspective both in outer space and on the surface of planets. Aerial dogfights will be happening in space, while players will battle with a variety of terrestrial enemies when near a planet’s surface.

While Ubisoft Toronto didn’t reveal their release plan for the modular ships and their parts, they said that the game will be released on Fall 2018 for all all current generation consoles including the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One . Starlink originally began with a 10-person team prototyping within Ubisoft Toronto.
