E3 2018 – Dying Light 2 announced

Techland has announced Dying Light 2 – and legendary role-playing game writer and designer Chris Avellone is working on it!

The sequel to Techland’s first-person shooter/action adventure game from 2015 was announced at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, as one of 15 E3 2018 game reveals during Xbox’s spectacular briefing.

Set roughly 15 years after the events of the first game, Dying Light 2 continues the freerunning, zombie-slaying antics of the original Dying Light, with an expanded scope, new setting(s), and a revamped parkour system.

This time, everything in the game changes based on your decisions, so you’ll need to choose wisely while trying to stay alive. For example, you can choose to free up a water control point to help a nearby city or team up with people you meet rather than killing them. Depending on what you choose, what comes next in the game will be much different.
“Each player’s game experience will be unique,” narrative designer Chris Avellone explained.

There isn’t much more info right now, but based on the short clips shown today, there’s plenty of action — both from the parkour and the combat. Although a lot of what’s been discussed during the Xbox event today is coming in 2019, there’s no release info yet for Dying Light 2.

Check out the Trailer:

Techland look to be focusing on making its world feel more alive and reactive, with a tooth-in-nail sense of survival-based challenge, alongside everything you loved from the original game; the smooth parkour controls, unique day-night cycle, and so on.

No firm release date was given for Dying Light 2, but hopefully a 2019 launch window isn’t out of the picture for this much anticipated sequel, and you can expect a release for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
