E3 2018: Quake Champions Will get a Free Trial

It was announced today during the Bethesda E3 press conference, that the original fast-paced multiplayer fragfest from id Software returns with Quake Champions, and for a limited time, players can join the arena for FREE.

Check out the E3 2018 trailer of Quake Champions, featuring some gampley footage:

Download Quake Champions on Steam or Bethesda.net Launcher between June 10-17 and get instant Early Access. If you log in during this time, you can stay and continue to play even after the event is over!

“Are you a newcomer itching to pull off your first rocket jump? A longtime Quake vet ready for the next challenge? Regardless of your skill level, now is the time to face the fast, fierce and fun scrimmages of Quake Champions! Announced during the Bethesda 2018 E3 Showcase, the Quake Champions Free-to-Play Trial is a limited-time event during June 10–17, allowing players to dive into the Quake Champions free-to-play version during Early Access for absolutely no charge!

Play solo, with friends, or against the all-new bots in classic modes like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Instagib; or put your skills to the ultimate test and compete in Ranked Duel and 2v2 modes!

Esports has long been a part of Quake, something it started 20 years ago at Quake. Community manager Joshua Boyle said QuakeCon and Dreamhack Winter would host esports events for the shooter this year.

Quake Champions is a free-to-play take on the landmark shooter series. It hit Steam Early Access in August 2017, though it does have a price tag at the moment (the free-to-play version launches later after the trial).

Arena shooters like Champions focus on fast-paced action. Quake III Arena, which came out in 1999, was one of the first games to popularize the subgenre. But the Quake series has been on something of a hiatus since 2010’s Quake Live, which itself was just a browser version of Quake III.”
