EA Hacked With Wealth of Information Stolen

Mega Publisher EA Games, publisher of such games as Battlefield, FIFA, and The Sims to name a few, was the victim of a hack that the hackers claim resulted in 780GB of data stolen. EA has confirmed that this hack has indeed taken place and that a lot of information was stolen.

The hackers themselves have taken to posting across multiple underground hacking forums that “You have full capability of exploiting on all EA services.” In those same forum posts the hackers have claimed to both steal the source code for FIFA 21, and the code for its matchmaking servers as well.

Another thing the Hackers have stated they stole was the source code for the Frostbite Engine. This engine has been touted for its destruction of psychics and has become a staple of most EA titles in recent years. On top of this, other stolen items include proprietary EA frameworks, software development kits, and bundles of code for streamlining game development.

These hackers are advertising in hopes of selling their ill-gotten gains on underground hacker forums. Accompanying their posts were several screenshots to showcase that their claims were true. They have yet to disseminate any of the information they have stolen yet, however.

A spokesperson for EA stated:

“We are investigating a recent incident of intrusion into our network where a limited amount of game source code and related tools were stolen. No player data was accessed, and we have no reason to believe there is any risk to player privacy. Following the incident, we’ve already made security improvements and do not expect an impact on our games or our business. We are actively working with law enforcement officials and other experts as part of this ongoing criminal investigation.”

This is an ongoing story and if any more information because available we will follow up.
