released just over a month ago with a roster full of fan favorites and violent newcomers. However, there’s still more fighters to come in the form of DLC, including the iconic shape-shifting mastermind, Shang Tsung.
While the DLC roster has yet to be officially revealed, it seems Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon is taking to social media to either tease an upcoming character, or troll fans.
A recent tweet from Boon showed one of the popular ninja fighters form the series that’s been left off of the original Mortal Kombat 11 roster, Rain. The image shows the purple fighter fighting against Raiden with a caption of – “I never meant to cause you any pain…” which is a call out to the popular Prince song Purple Rain.

While many fans can easily see this as a troll or just simple teasing as many fans have Rain as one of the most in-demand fighters to return to MK as a DLC character, others look at it as another type of tease.
We all know Shang Tsung is expected to release as currently the only announced DLC fighter for the game, but many claim this Rain figure is in fact Tsung himself. If true, it would mean Shang Tsung has the ability to morph into not only Rain, but potentially other popular fighters not included in the game, such as Mileena, Sindel and Reptile.
There’s no telling what Ed Boon was after regarding this incredibly teasing image, but it does seem to have more than a few fan wondering. Will we see Rain as a DLC character? Or, will Shang Tsung have the ability to morph into more than just the playable roster of fighters once he’s released?
Stay tuned for more on this potential tease as we’re expecting to hear more on the DLC character roster next week.
